We present the Eventuri intake for F9X X5M and G09 XM models. This intake is the result of extensive research and testing aimed at improving the airflow path in the standard system. Our system is a complete redesign of the standard Airbox, aiming to reduce pressure losses, increase flow, and maintain low intake air temperatures. Due to the standard cold air ducts from the front of the car and the turbocharger inlets at the rear of the car, the airflow must make a 180-degree turn through each Airbox, resulting in flow restriction. To address this, we introduced additional cold air inlets from the intake panel, resulting in a more direct flow path to the turbocharger inlets. The additional inlets allow for greater airflow while maintaining low intake temperatures and have the additional benefit of releasing turbocharger sounds. With the intake openings now facing towards the cabin, the sounds of turbo spooling and pressure release are distinctly audible, enhancing the driving experience.

Eventuri Difference

The F9X X5M, G09 XM Eventuri system uses our patented carbon fiber housings and our unique Gen 2 design filters, providing an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbochargers. This is not just another cone filter with a heat shield, but a unique design that induces the Venturi effect and maintains laminar flow conditions to reduce turbocharger resistance. Performance Tests

This intake has been independently tested on a dyno by MSL Performance in the UK. The tests were conducted continuously, comparing them with the standard Airbox, and each configuration was tested multiple times. The test car was without carbon filters in the standard configuration. Dyno results show a consistent increase in power across a significant portion of the rev range, which can be attributed to the turbochargers reaching maximum pressure earlier and at a lower wastegate duty cycle due to the increased efficiency of the intake system. The performance gain translates to increased throttle response and the car eagerly accelerates towards the redline.

The Eventuri intake system for BMW X5M, X6M, and G09 XM consists of a range of components designed to meet a specific goal and crafted with the utmost care. We use 100% carbon fiber impregnated, with no fiberglass, which allows us to achieve a smooth internal surface for smoother airflow.

Each intake system consists of:

• 2 x Patented Venturi carbon fiber filter housings
• 2 x Individually designed high-flow cone filters
• 2 x Dual carbon fiber intake ducts
• Carbon fiber engine cover
• 2 x Rear air inlets made of EPDM
• Silicone connectors
• CNC machined mounting brackets

Air Filter Housings

The filter housings consist of our unique Gen 2 filters, aluminum inlet channels, and stainless steel brackets. The carbon fiber housing encloses the filter mounted in reverse and smoothly shapes the airflow downward to the original turbocharger inlets. This changes the airflow path compared to the standard OEM Airbox, where the air enters the bottom of the Airbox, turns 90 degrees to pass through the flat filter, and then turns again 90 degrees to move through the tube section. Our system has a much more direct flow where the air enters the front of the filter housing and moves to the turbocharger inlet section without abrupt changes in direction. The result is a smoother path from the filter to the turbocharger, allowing it to operate with less resistance.

Unique Cone Filters

To achieve the highest airflow possible, we use the filter element to maximize the available space in the engine bay. The filtration element is tested to ISO standards to ensure that the filtration meets OEM standards and is also dry. The filter is constructed with our characteristic flow-optimized cones, which help in essence with the Venturi effect of the housing.

Patented Technology

Our patented filter housing has a smooth reduction in cross-sectional area as it covers the filter and tapers into the tube. This geometry induces the Venturi effect, where the airflow accelerates while maintaining laminar conditions. You can imagine it as a large stack of velocities - above is a diagram showing a comparison between our patented design and a regular intake system. Our unique filters help move air through the housings and allow for a smooth velocity profile exiting the housings.

Dual Carbon Fiber Intake Ducts

The biggest limitation in the standard system is the position of the air intake ducts compared to the orientation of the turbocharger inlets. The ducts are located at the front of the car, while the turbocharger inlets are facing towards the rear of the car. We designed the air ducts with an additional hole at the top and introduced additional inlets, where cold air is drawn from the intake panel. By utilizing both standard air ducts and additional air inlets, our system is able to flow with greater speed and provide a less convoluted flow path to the turbochargers.

Rear EPDM Inlets

To ensure a complete seal of the intake, additional air inlets on the carbon fiber flaps seal to these EPDM inlets, which then lead to the intake panel area. When the engine hood is closed, the intake panel area is tightly sealed from the engine compartment, so these inlets can supply fresh air to the intake. A pre-cut middle section of the OEM hood seal is provided to allow space for these EPDM inlets to mount.

Carbon Fiber Engine Cover

The Eventuri filter housings are designed for maximum capacity, the original engine cover no longer fits in its place. Therefore, we have prepared a modified cover that finishes the engine compartment, covering the mechanical elements of the engine for an aesthetic finish. We allowed for gaps between the engine cover and the intakes to allow heat dissipation from the engine to easily dissipate instead of being absorbed into the intake system.

The entire system comes together to provide an intake that enhances performance, aesthetics, and sound compared to the standard Airbox.
