BMW E39 M5 Performance gains: 8-12 HP, 8-10 Nm

The Eventuri intake for BMW E39 M5 has been designed as a comprehensive solution to enhance the standard airbox system. Our aim was to develop an intake system for the S62 engine that works with the original ECU mapping and MAF sensors, providing a real improvement in driving experience. With our patented Venturi housing, we ensured that the airflow remains as laminar as possible. Additionally, the addition of true cold air intake by adding inlet ducts integrated into the front fog lights leads to minimal intake air temperature. This results in an optimized intake system that delivers a noticeable and consistent increase in performance.

The E39 M5 Eventuri system utilizes our patented carbon fiber housings with our specially designed Gen-2 filter, which provides an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the intake pipes. It's not just another cone filter with a heat shield, but a unique design that induces the Venturi effect. More information about the housing design and its operation can be found HERE.

The standard AirBox draws air from the rear of the front bumper, so the airflow path is long, introducing resistance into the system. Additionally, the boxy shape of the airboxes causes turbulence at the transition to the round MAF tubes. Our system replaces the airboxes with Venturi housings, which much more efficiently transition to the round MAF tubes, maintaining laminar flow. The filters draw air from the shielded part of the engine bay, which is saturated with cold air from integrated inlet channels to the fog lights. By maintaining a low intake air temperature and improving flow path efficiency, the engine can produce more power. The dyno chart below shows a comparison between the standard airbox and the Eventuri intake system on a standard car with standard mapping and exhaust system. Dyno tests were conducted back-to-back on the same day with the engine hood closed.

The filter housings consist of high-flow filters, aluminum shields, and the carbon fiber inserts themselves. The carbon fiber inserts surround the filter mounted in reverse and smoothly shape the airflow downwards towards the MAF tubes. This smooth decrease in cross-sectional area induces the Venturi effect, where the airflow accelerates while maintaining laminar flow. This can be likened to a large accelerating stack - the diagram below shows a comparison between our patented design and a regular intake system. To deliver cold air to the intakes, we designed replacement fog light covers with integrated air channels. The cold air intake area was maximally utilized in the specified shape and size of the cover, and the channel transitions into supplied neoprene hoses. As the car moves, the surrounding air is forced into these channels, which are connected to neoprene tubes to directly feed airflow to the intakes. This ensures that the intakes do not heat up, and the engine can draw air at ambient temperatures.
