EVE-G20B48-V2-INT
BMW G20 B48 Eventuri Intake
Fits models G20 318i, 320i, 330i, 330e, as well as 4 Series with the B48 engine.
The BMW G20 B48 Eventuri intake has been developed to provide the turbo with a less restrictive airflow path while maintaining low inlet temperatures. Heat and volume are the main considerations when designing an intake for turbocharged engines. In the G20, the intake system is located next to the exhaust manifold, which quickly heats up the engine bay. High temperatures are detrimental for engine performance as the turbo would have to build pressure with heated, less dense air. Thus, the only way to ensure minimal Inlet Air Temperatures (IAT) is through a fully sealed intake. However, this leads to a limitation due to only one stock air feed. During development, we identified an additional opening in the wheel arch area and utilized it by adding a secondary feed to our Airbox. Additionally, our sealed Airbox features a heat shield with gold reflective coating to minimize heat transfer from the exhaust manifold. To maximize volume, we designed the Airbox to be as large as possible with space for potential strut braces. The stock convoluted intake tube is replaced with a smooth carbon tube, larger in internal volume, starting with an internal diameter of 111mm (4.4″) and smoothly tapering down to match the turbo inlet. This tube provides a smooth path from the filter to the turbo inlet. Finally, we use a custom-made high-flow dry filter, ISO tested for filtration performance, with a larger filtration area than the stock filter.
Eventuri BMW G20 B48 Kit
The Eventuri G20 B48 intake system consists of several components designed to fulfill specific purposes and crafted with utmost precision. We utilize 100% impregnated carbon fiber, without any fiberglass, enabling us to achieve a smooth internal surface for smoother airflow.
Each intake system comprises:
- Airbox with dual carbon fiber inlets
- Individually designed high-flow dry cone filter
- Carbon fiber intake tube
- CNC-machined temperature sensor mount
- CNC-machined evaporation adapters
- Gold reflective heat shield
- Laser-cut stainless steel brackets
- Silicone connector with OEM-standard clamps
Dual Carbon Fiber Airbox
Constructed from Prepreg Carbon Fiber, the Airbox serves a dual purpose - sealing the filter from engine bay heat and providing dual cold air inlets. Given the airbox's proximity to the exhaust manifold, it's crucial for the filter to be fully sealed, which is why we designed the Airbox to encase the filter while providing ample internal volume. To seal the intake tube, we designed a laser-cut plate with a rubber sealing tape that attaches to the airbox. The intake tube passes through the plate, and the rubber seal ensures no heated air enters the airbox. To further minimize heating, there's an additional heat shield with a reflective gold layer on the exhaust manifold side, effectively combating radiant heat transfer.
Having a fully sealed airbox poses an issue of restriction in cold air supply. The stock airbox draws air from a single channel extending into the area in front of the bumper. During development, we identified another area for cold air intake, which was the gap between the fender and the undercarriage, where the airbox sits. To utilize this inlet, we extended dual inlets behind our design, protruding towards the fender and may even be visible after installation behind the front wheel. This second inlet allows the turbocharger to draw air from a larger area, reducing restrictions.
Carbon Fiber Intake Tube
The OEM airbox system in the G20 B48 was updated in cars produced after November 2018, where the airflow sensor was replaced with a temperature sensor in the intake tube. Prior to this date, all airbox systems had an airflow sensor, so we offer 2 variants. V1 intake, which includes an intake tube for airflow sensor (MAF) installation, and V2 intake intended for cars produced after November 2018, which use a temperature sensor. The differences between the tubes can be seen below.
The stock intake tube has a flexible and convoluted section to accommodate engine movement. However, this design can also cause airflow turbulence as there are many surfaces that can create swirling. We replace this with our carbon fiber tube, which is smooth and has a larger internal volume. Unlike most aftermarket alternatives on the market, we maximize the size of our intake tube. The stock intake tube has an internal diameter of 80.8 mm or 3.2” at the end of the filter. Our tube for cars produced after November 2018 has an internal diameter of 109 mm or 4.3”. This represents a huge cross-sectional area increase of 82% compared to the stock tube. The tube smoothly tapers down to the factory turbo inlet to ensure airflow remains as laminar as possible. The tube also features CNC-machined fittings for temperature sensor and flow adapter.
Individual Cone Filter
Our cone filter is made from multi-layered mesh material and is ISO tested to ensure filtration meets OEM standards. The filter is washable and highly resistant to high temperatures, with a base material of polyurethane. The filter includes an internal cone structure to guide airflow towards the center, reducing the likelihood of stagnation in the middle of the filter space. The filtering surface has a significantly larger volumetric area than the stock flat filter.
