The intake for Golf GTi/R MK8 is a complete overhaul of the stock intake up to the turbo inlet. Drawing inspiration from our RS3 intake, we have maximized the available space to create an intake capable of handling all power levels, from stock to high-powered setups with hybrid or aftermarket turbos. This intake system is designed to provide the highest possible airflow while keeping intake temperatures as low as possible. Each component is engineered to provide a smooth and unrestricted path to the turbocharger. The restrictive stock 73mm diameter intake pipe is replaced with a larger 94mm diameter intake pipe. The filter itself has an outer diameter of 192mm or 7.5 inches, with a filtering surface area of over 110,000 mm^2. The patented Venturi housing is designed to maximize the internal volume achievable within the Golf engine bay, providing laminar airflow to the turbo inlet pipe. Additionally, the intake pipe seals to the filter housing against the front bulkhead, but is not limited solely to the stock air inlet. We have raised the front portion of the pipe to now provide an additional opening at the back of the hood, equivalent to an additional 7-inch diameter opening from which the intake can draw air. As a result, this system can significantly outperform the stock airbox while maintaining low intake temperatures thanks to its sealed design.
The Eventuri Difference
The Eventuri system for the 2.0 TFSi Gen 4 engine utilizes our patented carbon fiber housings, providing an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo inlet pipe. This is not just another cone filter with a heat shield, but a unique design that invokes the Venturi effect. More information on the housing design and its function can be found HERE.
Performance Test
Our Golf MK8 intake underwent independent testing conducted by a renowned tuner in the UK, Regal Autosport. The Golf R MK8 was tested in stock form as well as with a Tuning Box. The tests were conducted on the same day, using the stock airbox as a baseline and then with the Eventuri intake installed. The car underwent no other modifications. The first graph shows the results for stock settings. As evident, there is a measurable increase in performance across the rev range, up to 12 HP. This increase, even on a factory-new car, is noticeable on the road due to improved throttle response and faster acceleration. The second graph shows the results for Tuning Box settings, which increase the demand for airflow from the intake system. The Tuning Box was used both with the stock setup and with the Eventuri intake, with no changes between tests. With increased airflow demand, the stock airbox imposes greater restrictions on the turbocharger, as seen by the significant performance increase achieved with the Eventuri intake installed. Now we achieve higher performance gains across the rev range, up to 20 HP and 30 Nm, which are even more noticeable on the road. We expect that with higher stages of modification, the gains will be even greater.
Air Flow Test
We conducted airflow tests using the Superflow SF-1020 flow bench to measure maximum flow at a 28" H2O pressure drop. The tests were conducted on the same day under controlled conditions, using the same test rig for each system. We tested our full intake system compared to the stock airbox for both R and GTi variants. The results show that maximum airflow increased by an additional 72% for the Golf R system and an additional 42% for the GTi system. Importantly, this was achieved with a sealed intake system, ensuring that intake temperatures are also kept to a minimum.
The gains stem from a combination of factors:
- The sealed system maintains low intake temperatures - the Golf engine bay can heat up rapidly, so an open cone filter would result in increased intake temperatures, leading to performance loss.
- The Venturi housing provides a smooth transition from the filter to the intake pipes, which have a matched internal diameter of 94 mm. This helps the turbocharger work more efficiently.
- The entire system is made from pure pre-preg carbon fiber, which effectively insulates from heat and has smooth internal surfaces, unlike fiberglass, which can have sharp resin lines.
Complete Eventuri Kit

The Eventuri intake system for Golf MK8 R/GTi consists of several components designed to perform specific tasks and made from the highest quality materials. We utilize 100% pre-preg carbon fiber without any fiberglass, allowing us to achieve a smooth internal surface for improved airflow.
Each intake system consists of:
- Patented Venturi filter housing made from carbon fiber with a 94mm outlet
- High-flow cone filter
- Full-width carbon fiber intake pipe
- 94mm inlet silicone hose
- Machined breather adapter (for Golf R only)
- Additional breather filter and bracket (for GTi version for the US market)
- Laser-cut stainless steel brackets
Cone Filter Housing
The Golf MK8 intake housing consists of a unique high-flow filter, aluminum housing, laser-cut bracket, and the carbon fiber capsule itself. The carbon fiber capsule surrounds the inverted filter and smoothly shapes the airflow downwards into the intake pipes. This smooth reduction in cross-sectional area induces the Venturi effect, where airflow speeds up while maintaining laminar conditions. This can be likened to a large velocity cone - below is a diagram showing the comparison between our patented design and a standard intake system.
Eventuri Technology
To achieve maximum airflow, we designed a new filter element to best utilize the available space in the engine bay. The new filter has an outer diameter of 192mm or 7.6 inches and during flow tests with a 4-inch inlet housing, it is able to flow up to 900 CFM at a 28" H2O pressure drop. The filter center is tested to ISO standards to ensure filtration meets OEM standards and is also dry. The filter is made from our signature flow cones, which aid in the Venturi housing principle.
Intake Ducting
The duct channels air from the front of the hood area into the filter housing. It matches the area of the stock front bulkhead and smoothly transitions into the round shape of the filter housing. To provide good insulation from engine bay heat, it also features a flexible rubber edge around the opening that presses the inlet to the filter housing, creating the desired seal while allowing movement of the housing with the engine. As this was designed to support high-performance setups, we found that the standard openings in the front bulkhead could cause restriction under high airflow demand. Therefore, we raised the upper surface of the duct and created an opening above the hood, which can draw cold air from behind the closed hood. This additional opening is equivalent to over a 7-inch diameter opening and completely eliminates restrictions from the standard cold air intake. The duct was designed to have the maximum internal volume possible within the engine bay geometry. This ensures that the filter housing is able to draw air with minimal restrictions.
Turbo Silicone Hose
*Image depicts the hose for Golf R. GTi hose does not feature an additional breather outlet.
Our silicone hose replaces the standard flexible tube leading to the turbo inlet. It is designed to fit the outlet diameter of our filter housing, which is 94mm, significantly larger than the standard 73mm tube diameter. This results in over a 60% increase in cross-sectional area. The silicone hose maintains this diameter as long as possible before smoothly tapering down to the standard turbo inlet.
The entire system comes together to deliver an intake that enhances performance, aesthetics, and sound compared to the stock intake system.
