AUDI 8Y RS3 Intake

Performance (RS3 with stock turbo): 15-20HP, 13-18Nm

Airflow Test Data:
- Standard intake 530 CFM
- Eventuri intake 840 CFM

Fitment: RS3 8Y 2020+

Due to the widespread use of the 8Y RS3 platform for high-performance engine builds, Eventuri has developed a groundbreaking intake system capable of handling even those exceeding the 1000 HP mark. This intake system was designed to provide the highest possible airflow while maintaining minimal intake temperatures. Each component was engineered to provide a smooth and unrestricted path to the turbocharger. The intake pipe has an internal diameter of 103mm or just over 4 inches and features a smooth curvature from the filter housing all the way to the turbo inlet. The filter itself was specially designed for this intake and boasts a massive external diameter of 210mm or 8.3 inches, with a filtration area of over 130,000 mm^2. The patented Venturi housing was designed to provide maximum internal volume possible for the RS3 engine bay while ensuring laminar flow to the turbo inlet pipe. Finally, the duct seals the filter opening to the front panel but is not constrained solely to standard intake, with the front duct raised to now provide an additional opening behind the grille, equivalent to an additional 7-inch diameter opening, from which the intake can draw. The resulting system has the ability to flow 840 CFM at 28" H2O, maintaining minimal intake temperatures thanks to the sealed design.

Eventuri Difference

The 8Y RS3 Eventuri system utilizes patented carbon fiber housings, providing an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the intake tubes. This is not just another cone filter with a heat shield but a unique design that invokes the Venturi effect. You can read more about the housing design and how it works HERE.

Airflow Tests

Eventuri conducted airflow tests using the Superflow SF-1020 device to measure maximum airflow achievable at a 28” H2O pressure drop. The tests were conducted on the same day under controlled conditions, using the same testing apparatus for each system. The full intake system was tested against the standard AirBox system. The results illustrate the constraining nature of the standard AirBox, which they managed to improve by up to 58% of the maximum possible airflow. Importantly, they achieved this through a sealed intake system, ensuring intake temperatures are also kept at a minimum.

Dyno Testing

Our RS3 intake system has been tested by various renowned tuners from around the world who build high-power RS3/TTRS projects for road and track use. The first set of results comes from MSL Performance, who tested our system on a standard 8Y RS3 model. The tests were conducted over one day, one after the other. As can be seen, there is a measurable increase in power across the rev range, up to 22 HP. This increase, even on a stock car, is noticeable on the road due to improved throttle response and faster acceleration.

Summary of Dyno Results:

Standard Airbox with modified standard intake pipe for TTE700 = 576.5 HP
Eventuri Stage 3 Intake with modified standard intake pipe for TTE700 = 606.5 HP
Eventuri Stage 3 Intake with Eventuri turbo inlet pipe for TTE700 = 620.8 HP
Dyno Chart IDuring Stage 3 intake development, Eventuri also tested with a full-frame turbo build, exceeding the performance limits of the DAZA engine. The latest tests conducted by Eurocharged Canada utilized the Stage 3 intake to achieve 1010 HP at the wheels, further confirming the flow capabilities of the Eventuri system. During the tests, Eurocharged tuners noted they were able to achieve higher power at lower boost settings using our Stage 3 intake compared to other systems they had used. Their RS3 already achieved a quarter-mile time of 9.1 seconds at a terminal speed of 160 mph and is quickly approaching sub-9-second times.
Dyno Chart II

Gains are attributed to a combination of factors:

  1. A sealed system maintains low intake temperatures - the RS3 engine bay can quickly overheat, so an open cone filter will cause intake temperature rise, resulting in performance loss.

  2. The Venturi housing provides a smooth transition from the filter to the intake tubes, which have an identical internal diameter of 103mm. This helps hybrid and full-frame turbochargers work more efficiently.

  3. The entire system is made from pure pre-preg carbon fiber, which effectively insulates from heat and has smooth internal surfaces, unlike fiberglass, which may have sharp resin lines.

Eventuri RS3 8V / TTRS 8S Kit

The Eventuri RS3 8Y intake system consists of a series of components designed to fulfill specific functions and made with the utmost care. We use 100% pre-preg carbon fiber without any fiberglass, ensuring a smooth internal surface to maintain smoother airflow. Here are the details of each component and the design principle associated with them:

Venturi Housing

The Stage 3 filter housing consists of an individually crafted high-flow filter, aluminum shroud, laser-cut brackets, and the carbon fiber base itself. Carbon fibers encase the filter mounted in reverse and smoothly shape the airflow downward to the intake tubes. This smooth cross-sectional area decrease invokes the Venturi effect, where airflow accelerates while still maintaining laminar conditions. This can be likened to a large velocity cone - below is a diagram showing the comparison between our patented design and a regular intake system.

Filter Housing Diagram
Stage 3 vs Stage 2 Filter
To achieve the highest possible flow, we had to redesign our Stage 2 filter and increase its size to the maximum possible within the RS3 engine bay space. The resulting filter has an external diameter of 210mm or 8.3 inches and during flow testing with only the carbon fiber housing, it can achieve flows of up to 940 CFM at 28" H2O. The filter media is tested to ISO standards to ensure filtration is OEM compliant and is also dry. The filter is constructed with our signature flow cones to aid in the Venturi housing principle.

Carbon fiber intake duct.
Carbon intake duct

The duct channels atmospheric air from the front panel area to the filter housing. It fits the original piping system and smoothly transitions into the cylindrical shape of the filter housing. To ensure good sealing against engine bay heat, it also features a flexible rubber seal around the opening, which presses against the filter housing, creating the desired seal while allowing the housing to move with the engine. As it was designed to support high-power builds, we found that standard openings in the front panel may restrict airflow under high demand. Therefore, we raised the upper surface of the duct and created an opening above the front panel, capable of drawing cold air from behind the closed hood. This additional opening is equivalent to a 7-inch diameter opening and completely removes restrictions in standard cold air feeds. The Stage 3 duct was designed to have the maximum internal volume possible within the RS3 engine bay geometry. This ensures that the filter housing can draw air with minimal restriction.

We also ensured that the Stage 3 duct is compatible with larger aftermarket throttle bodies available in the market.

Intake tube
The intake tube is made from 100% pre-preg carbon fiber, so as mentioned, the inner surface is smooth, and the carbon fiber weave is visible. The Stage 3 tube has a 103mm or 4" inner diameter and features a smooth curvature to minimize pressure drop. It directs airflow from the Venturi housing to the turbocharger inlet. The smooth geometry of the bends ensures laminar flow is maintained from the filters to the outlets.

External thermal shield

OPF Adapter (DWNA)

Due to the intense heat generated by the turbocharger, Eventuri has designed a thermal shield to protect the carbon fiber tube. The shield is powder-coated black but has a reflective gold layer on the base, which reflects heat radiation from the turbocharger and catalytic converter. It features a stainless steel bracket to provide rigidity and bends around the rear of the tube to reflect convective heat away from it. Note - this shield may not fit some full-frame turbocharger systems with a different exhaust manifold. OPF Adapter (DWNA)
DWNA Adapter
Eventuri offers 2 separate Stage 3 intake systems, one will fit the DAZA engine, and the other fits the new DWNA engine from 2019 using an adapter and custom breather hose.
