The Eventuri intake for the 4.0TFSI V8 EA825 engine is a comprehensive redesign and optimization of the entire air intake path. Every component, including the cover, has been developed to allow the twin-turbo V8 to draw air with less resistance, resulting in industry-leading performance gains. The factory airbox cover creates a restriction in the size of the flow collector that feeds the inlets from the filters. Eventuri increased the height of the middle section of the cover to allow for the use of a larger flow collector and larger conical filters. This eliminates the inherent restriction and distinguishes the Eventuri intake from others, which using the factory cover, must also use a restricted collector and filter. The inlets to the turbochargers are even 43% larger in cross-sectional area than the originals and have been designed with an advanced concave internal surface to minimize friction losses between the flow and the inlet wall. This allows for an "air cushion" at the wall surface, enabling the flow to move through the inlets at higher flow velocities with reduced pressure losses. This allows the turbochargers to draw air with less resistance and thus reduce the cycle of the wastegate valve, resulting in higher overall performance.
*Performance gains measured may vary depending on different ECU chips.
Dyno Testing
This intake has been independently tested on a dyno by Eurocharged Canada. The tests were conducted in a back-to-back mode compared to the factory airbox, and several runs were made for each configuration. The dyno results show consistent performance gains across the entire rpm range, which can be attributed to the turbos reaching maximum acceleration earlier and operating at a lower wastegate duty cycle due to the higher efficiency of the intake system. The first graph shows results on a completely stock vehicle, where only the intake was changed between runs. The second graph depicts an RSQ8 with stage 1 tuning and the factory air filter as the baseline run. Then the intake was changed, leaving the tuning as it was. The performance gains on both vehicles translate to increased throttle response at partial and full throttle, with the car eagerly accelerating towards the redline.

Eventuri 4.0 TFSI V8 Kit

The Eventuri 4.0TFSI V8 intake system consists of several components designed to achieve a specific goal and made from the highest quality materials. We use 100% pre-preg carbon fiber without any glass fiber, which means we can achieve a smooth internal surface for smoother airflow. Here are the details of each component and their design concept:
Each intake system comprises:
- Enlarged carbon fiber airbox cover
- Carbon fiber flow collector
- 2 thermoformed intake ducts with concave internal surface
- 2 x individually crafted high-flow conical dry filters
- Individually tailored flexible hoses
- CNC machined breather ports and reinforcement rings

Enlarged Airbox Cover

The first restriction to overcome in significantly increasing the overall intake volume was the airbox cover. The factory cover leaves a shallow opening for the flow collector and also restricts the type of filter used. By creating a raised area in the middle of the cover, we can make more room for a larger flow collector and larger filters. The cover is made of pre-preg carbon fiber and uses the same mounting points as the factory cover.
Flow Collector and Carbon Fiber Filters

Directing airflow from the filters to the turbocharger inlets is the flow collector. The factory collector has limited size due to the factory cover, but by removing this restriction, Eventuri is able to significantly increase the volume of their version. Additionally, this also gave them the opportunity to replace the factory filter with higher-flow conical filters, which also have a larger total filtering surface.
Turbocharger Inlets

The biggest limitation in the factory system is the turbocharger inlets. The factory inlets are not only small in size but also have 2 flexible sections. The flexible section directly before the turbocharger creates turbulence during engine acceleration. To address this, the factory inlets also have flow guides at the outlet of the inlets, but they also create a restriction. We removed the first flexible section, which also meant we could increase the internal volume. By increasing the inlet sizes, the turbochargers can draw air with less resistance, allowing for faster full throttle response. In the next images, you can see the differences in sizes.
We could have ended the design here, but we wanted to push the boundaries further and introduce an innovative design with recesses on the inner surfaces. Theoretically, small recesses can increase flow by reducing friction pressure losses inside the pipe.
A lot of research and development work went into simulating different sizes and shapes until they achieved an optimized version that showed higher flow through the inlets compared to a smooth surface. The application of such a complex design was made possible by advanced production techniques they applied to make the inlets, where traditional methods would not provide the required accuracy. The recesses create an "air cushion" on the inlet surface, allowing the main air stream to "slide" with less friction through the pipe to the turbocharger. This results in a more even velocity profile in the recessed pipe, which ultimately means higher velocity for the same boundary conditions. Here are some CFD simulations showing recirculations in the recesses and higher velocity in the recessed pipe.
The entire system combines to deliver an intake that improves performance, aesthetics, and sound compared to the factory airbox.
